CMDT, Callaghan Innovations and MTANZ will be presenting the following awards to award entry winners at the Awards & Networking Night on Tuesday, 28 June 2022.
Healthtech Award for Best Translational Research Project
Presented at Awards & Networking Night
This prestigious award is open to researchers associated with the MedTech Research Network and Te Tītoki Mataora, and recognises exceptional projects which have potential to make a significant impact on a major healthcare problem, demonstrate innovation in concept, have potential for translation and/or commercialisation and are effectively communicated. Specifically, this award is for teams in the early stages of research translation where the concept has been validated with users, and a potential route to market identified. If the team has already formed a spinout company as part of this translation, the company may not be more than 6 months old at the time of submission.
Callaghan HealthTech Award for Best Scale-Up Company
It takes a significant amount of time, effort and money to take a health technology innovation to market. Being able to scale the technology to deliver to different markets and users is a huge challenge and often the difference between sustainability and failure. This award celebrates the emerging companies that have identified successful pathways to scale and are on track to grow.
MTANZ Innovation Award
The Medical Technology Association of NZ believes in celebrating exciting medical technology innovation that changes the lives of patients. The prestigious MTANZ Innovation Award is recognition of the excellent innovation in our industry, open to member companies.

MTANZ New Zealand Manufacturing & Export Award
The Medical Technology Association of NZ believes in celebrating exciting medical technology innovation that changes the lives of patients. The MTANZ Award is to recognize the excellent innovation in the NZ medical technology manufacturing industry and is open to all New Zealand-based medical technology manufacturing and/or exporting companies. Through this award MTANZ seeks reward those who achieve outstanding results by the introduction of innovative medical technology into the New Zealand and/or international markets.

CMDT Early-Career Researcher Awards
Presented during TTM Research Day
The CMDT Early-Career Researcher Awards are open to PhD students and EMCRs (<10 years post-PhD) engaged in research and development of medical related technologies and/or brain research. Research posters will be on display throughout the week, and presented for judging on TTM Research Day. The authors of the best abstracts will also be invited to give a 3-minute elevator pitch of their research. Poster awards include 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and People’s Choice Awards. Speaking Awards include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Awards.
