Dr Stuart Gowland QSO FRACS
Dr Stuart Gowland is a Urologist and Director of the New Zealand Mobile Surgical Project. He is a sometime member of the New Zealand Board of Surgery and Australasian Board of Urology. Much of the activity has been related to the 23,000 procedures that have been done on the surgical bus around the country bringing day surgery safely back to Rural New Zealand. Much activity has been related to the use of communications technology being used to practically reduce the issues of time and distance faced by Rural Communities.

Originally with an advisory board of 12 Clinicians representing a selection of New Zealand’s Nurses, General Practitioners, Surgeons and Anaesthetists the Mobile Surgical Bus was promoted and after its development in 2002 established its activities across the countries small rural hospitals and beyond. It continually receives recognition for its extensive activities.
